More and more people are suffering from chronic or acute anxiety or panic, (and depression), in our stressful society. Because EFT tapping is so popular and has proven its benefits over and over, people are presenting to EFT and Energy Therapy practitioners for help.

panicThe Classic EFT protocol may be used with the client holding the feeling of panic or anxiety as he/she taps on each point. Tap on a single point until an obvious shift or neutralization of the emotional charge is felt, then move to the next point, and continue through the protocol. The client may talk about the stressors, the feelings, the pain, however this is not necessary as long as the person holds onto the emotional or physical sensations while tapping with the intention of letting this go.

Beyond tapping there are many causes today of anxiety and panic. Stress is the number one cause, and this can be lessened by tapping. Diet is another major contributor to anxiety and panic.

If you or your clients suffer these symptoms I would highly recommend an examination of diet. Certain main culprits to identify and eliminate that have been scientifically proven to cause or heighten anxiety and panic are: gluten *, caffeine, sugar, refined foods, soft drinks, among others.

Eliminating gluten can show dramatic results in a very short time, and recent studies of teenagers with suicidal tendencies show complete abatement of these symptoms within days of dropping all gluten from their diets. ** Just because one has not been diagnosed with celiac disease, there is growing data and awareness of gluten sensitivity in people who even test negative on traditional allergy tests. So, in all cases of anxiety, panic, depression, I would suggest going gluten-free for one to two weeks while looking for mood changes. This may make a major difference, and if it doesn’t, there are no side effects.

My message, as usual, is to look at the whole-istic picture as you utilize various tools like tapping. Because the body energy is denser than the emotional, once you clear emotional causes or basic stressors from the electro-magnetic biofield, there may still be work to do in order to re-balance the physical body for health.

Many years ago I was introduced to Energy Therapy via Kinesiology, Color Therapy, Chrystal Therapies, Flower Essences, among other potent healing approaches. I learned ways to heal auto-immune conditions, daily stressors, deep traumas, and other symptoms of the body, mind, spirit. This led me to my studies of NET/ Neuro Emotional Technique, and on to focus on other meridian-based modalities such as EFT.

In my practice I love training all of my clients to use Classic EFT, and… in order to go deeper with each client for even more profound and often faster results, I blend a combination of other energy therapy modalities. Each client calls for a different combination of approaches, and the more modalities one has in her practitioner’s “toolbox” the better she can support each individual client.

For this reason, years ago I began sharing information with others on all of the modalities I had collected in my own experience. EFT is a wonderful tool that often clears a priority issue in a single session. Our Western AMA-based health culture has never realized the potency of the body’s meridian system, and EFT tunes right into that in an easy way that each of us can apply on ourselves. When I add certain Energy tinctures, energizing techniques, nutritional approaches, and testing tools, then I can work with the whole body, mind, spirit picture for wellness.

It amazes me how many people show up in my practice with serious emotional and physical issues brought on by unexpected pregnancies. It doesn’t seem to matter whether the client is the mother or the child. Also of inconsequence is whether the mother was married to the father or not at the time of the unexpected pregnancy. Pregnancy is a serious life-changing issue, and when it is a surprise it can cause a full spectrum of reactions which impact the already hormonal mother as well as the developing fetus in her womb.

mother-and-child-1aOf course it is best in cases of negative reactions to the pregnancy,  if the mother works with an energy therapist or uses EFT on her own as soon as she discovers she is pregnant. As she clears her own angst, surprise, anger, fear, shame, frustration, confusion, or whatever shows up, she is also easing the fall-out for her unborn child.

Generally the cases that I have treated have involved the child or result of the unexpected pregnancy. In all of the cases where the person was subconsciously carrying the unresolved issues of the mother, the individual felt limited, held back from meeting his or her full potential, upset for unknown reasons, or was struggling with life or hiding from it without conscious reasons. Many of these cases also suffered from a variety of physical symptoms such as fibromyalgia, food allergies, debilitating stress, depression, arthritic symptoms, gastro-intestinal issues, among others.

Again, in all of the cases the individuals had struggled to strive beyond the subconscious barriers, but  inner feelings of  shame, being a burden or bother, being unworthy of love or recognition,  and feeling cut-off from abundance in all areas of life, led to stress, illness, broken relationships, lost jobs, and general suffering in all forms. These clients all seemed intelligent, most were attractive, some were over-achievers, and yet all were suffering because they were subconsciously held back from meeting their goals.

An awareness of the negative impact of unexpected pregnancy can be a big help for all coaches, therapists, chiropractors, and other physicians in setting up a beneficial treatment protocol for clients or patients with this issue. And, the use of energy therapy and EFT can augment and support treatments of all disciplines.

Because EFT is such a potent and easy-to-use modality, it is fun to utilize it and then notice the sometimes miraculous results in your life. Let’s focus here on relationships…

Quantum science has proven that energy is non-local, so one need not be in close proximity in order to receive blessings from prayer, feel energy shifts, accept love coming from a distant partner, benefit from energy therapy by phone. It also explains how we are all related energetically, so if one person reacts, it is felt by others.

I have often seen wonderful seeming “miracles” happen when my clients work on their relationship issues using EFT and other energy therapy modalities. Did you know that if you clear the emotional resistance, heaviness, pain around a relationship, then that same negative energetic shifts in some way for the other person too?

Let us look at it as though you and the other person were tugging on opposite ends of a long rope. It is so long that you cannot see each other and you may even forget the other person is at the other end. You have struggled with this tug-of-war for awhile and it is taking your time and energy to keep up the process. One day you decide to do some energy work around this and after removing the charge and inner need to keep pulling on the rope you realize that it is just extra exerted energy that is no longer necessary nor beneficial in your life. Without the emotional charge that caused you to be obsessed with pulling, you are able to just lay down the rope and walk away. You can imagine that the other person tugging on the opposite end will feel this. He or she may not know what happened, but at the moment you give up the struggle, that struggle also ends for the other person.  What a gift this is, not only for yourself, but for the other person… and for everyone else involved who has witnessed or participated in some way in your struggle.

When I work with couples I may have a session with both of them, and then each works with me separately to clear his or her issues around the relationship. Without pointing fingers, telling stories, or re-living arguments and hard times, the energies around these can be cleared by each individual and then the other automatically feels the results around that issue. In this way, in a personal, peaceful way, the issues held by each of the partners can be de-charged and discharged so that the two individuals can enjoy each other and the relationship more as they both have moved a step further forward in personal transformation.

  • Do you have a favorite food?
  • Do you eat it as a result of emotional tension or as a reward to yourself?
  • Do you resent this food’s hold on you and the way you feel after you eat it?

comfort foodsMaybe you are finding yourself addicted to a comfort food for a variety of reasons. EFT Tapping can support this imbalance so that the emotional reasons that cause you to turn to the comfort food do not turn into harmful or toxic physical conditions.

If you have used food as a positive reward to yourself, can you do this in moderation using healthy foods as rewards? If you find that the foods you choose are not good for your body or your waistline, then you may use EFT Tapping to shift this practice. Try utilizing one of the following set-up statements that is appropriate while tapping the karate chop or thymus/heart chakra points:

  • Even though I am turning to (this food) as a reward, I deeply and completely love and appreciate myself.
  • Even though I want (this food) as my reward, and I know it is not that healthy, I still deeply and completely accept myself.
  • Even though I choose (this food) which may not be that good for me, I deeply and completely love myself, and I choose to shift this choice to a healthier food reward.
  • Even though I have used food as my reward in the past, I now choose to replace it with ( x ) as I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
  • Even though I have used food as my reward in the past, I now choose to let go of this habit because I deeply and completely love and respect myself.

If you have turned to food for comfort when feeling upset, alone, depressed, or another negative emotion, then use the EFT Energy Therapy Tapping to clear this detrimental habit while also clearing the issues that send you to the comfort foods. Tap on the karate chop point as well as the thymus/heart chakra point while focusing on the following:

  • I love myself so much that I am willing to become aware of when I turn to food for comfort.
  • I love myself so much that I choose to be healthy in mind, body, and spirit.
  • Even though I have comforted myself with food in the past, I choose to find higher vibrational ways to do this in the future.
  • Even though I have chosen comfort foods too often when I’ve felt bad, I deeply and completely love and respect myself.
  • Even though I get angry with myself when I use food for comfort, I still deeply and completely accept and love myself.
  • Even though my society sells comfort in foods, and many of the food choices are unhealthy for me, I choose to be aware of my emotions and I choose to comfort myself with tapping instead of food.
  • Even though I’ve had a bad habit in the past, from now on I’ll tap whenever I feel upset, alone, depressed, or imbalanced emotionally.
  • Because I love myself I choose to use EFT tapping from now on to provide myself with emotional comfort.
  • When I feel ( x ) I choose now to tap away the inner turmoil instead of eating comfort foods.

If you know how to use EFT  already, then you have the tools to help you clear the causes of your discomfort in all areas of your life. And, if you are not currently using these valuable energy tools for yourself when you find yourself  comfort eating, binging, or eating inappropriately, then I highly recommend that you contact a professional practitioner to support you to get past your deepest blocks so that you can take care of your day-to-day stressors.

It is important that you become aware of your eating tendencies if you tend toward comfort eating because often the foods we choose for comfort become toxic to us. Food allergies are often created when the subconscious mind associates favorite foods with negative emotions after these good foods have been used over and over when you have felt bad in the past. So, in order to continue to enjoy your favorite foods, keep them separate from your negative emotions by tapping away the causes or the eating habits. Either way you win!
